This scene captured my attention with the distinctive ripples caused by the shallow sandbar just below the water's surface.

This painting is all about the distant mountains as they are framed by the foreground.  This was just a great day to be painting on location.

This piece and its companion "Santa Barbara Morning" were painting on the same day from the same location.  I really enjoyed observing the transformation between the morning's bright yellow glare on the ocean into the evening light with the sun going down behind me generating deep violets and blues in the water.

This is a painting of one of my favorite spots along the coast.  When the tide is right, the waves surge through the blow-hole, and the morning light is spectacular.
