This house has the most amazing garden. Two years ago I passed this spot and made a mental note to return to paint the scene. I tried to get back that year, but I was too late. The blooming season is relatively short, and when I passed this spot this year I immediately went back to my studio, grabbed my gear and returned to paint knowing just how hard it is to get the timing right.
I picked this unusual long format (8x20 inches) to get the feel of the long narrow garden along the side of the properly. This gives the piece a very unique quality.

This is the largest piece I've done completely plein air (outdoors) to date (24x30 inches). I love how it turned out.
I had a number of consecutive days available with fantastic weather projections, so I took it upon myself to try to work a large piece.

This was painted on location from a tucked in spot overlooking Pebble Beach across a golf course. What a dramatic tree, wind blown yet elegant.

I painting this right outside my front door one day. I had planned to take a long drive to the coast to paint, but this scene caught my eye as I was loading up and I just had to stop and try to capture the feel of it in paint.
